Many of you have patiently waited for the return of our Nero D'Avola, and we're excited to announce that the wait is over. Our 2016 Nero D'Avola named "Hear No Evil' will be released to the public this Thursday 4/23.
Suveg Cellars' 2013 Nero D'Avola was released in 2018, selling out in just under 2 months and winning a gold medal at the LA International Wine Competition. Our 2016 rendition of the grape might be even better, boasting a silky palate of dark cherry, chocolate, spice, and forest floor like earthiness and a soft tannin structure thanks to 42 months of barrel aging. Up there with our Sibling Rivalry Riserva, this is one of the top wines EVER produced by Suveg Cellars which is why it will go exclusively to our Wine Club.
Nero D'Avola is a grape that hails from the island of Sicily. Nero in Italian means "black" and D'Avola translates to "from Avola," a town located on Sicily. However, thanks to it's near-identical pronunciation to "Nero Diavola," many have gone on to call this grape "The Black Devil." This is why 2016 vintage sports the name "Hear No Evil," the first in a line of Nero D'Avola vintages playing on this theme.
