We're having a special library release this next Sunday for Mother's Day, and we couldn't think of a more fitting wine to re-release than our 2017 Sangiovese "Problem Child."
Our 2017 interpretation of Sangiovese is crafted from the Brunello clone sourced from Ron’s Ranch 5 in Santa Barbara County. Deeply extracted, aromatic notes of desiccated plum, baked pie cherry, dried orange peel, and mocha are balanced by earthy components of loam, dustiness, tobacco, and black tea. This Sangiovese interpretation is far from traditional, sporting a heavier palette weight and a much deeper, richer profile.
In past vintages, the name Problem Child was dedicated to our Syrah/Cabernet Blend. However, we decided the name was far more applicable to our 2017 Sangiovese. During the course of this wine's barrel aging process, it went through several awkward adolescent phases. Truth be told, both Craig and Devin didn't even like it at certain points on its journey and found themselves wondering whether or not the wine would ever grow up. It took a long time, but slowly our Sangiovese began to blossom, creating a layered, powerhouse wine with complexity and aging potential.
There will only be 24 bottles available! Make sure to get there early to reserve yours. Take a look at the event details below for more information.
