2020 Pinot Noir "Joint Custody" Release Saturday, September 10th

For years the Suveg Cellars Community has been clamoring for Craig to make a Pinot Noir. In the midst of all the 2020 chaos he finally had that opportunity, and we're proud to finally release our first Pinot Noir "Joint Custody," on Saturday, September 10th at noon.

Pinot Nero, the Italian synonym for Pinot Noir, is one of the more unforgiving varietals to work with in the winery, and in the vineyard. Fickle and unpredictable, Pinot Noir has baffled world-class winemakers for generations. The challenge that Pinot Noir presents makes Craig's first rendition of this wine that much more impressive. Elegantly crafted with no rough edges, the wine is packed with ripe cherry, strawberry, and violet notes, accented by baking spice, mushroom and forest character. Aged in small 114 liter French Oak Barrels for 24 months, this wine can be enjoyed now, or anytime over the next 7 years.

Pinot Noir, historically, has been at the center of conflict for thousands of years. Burgundy, where Pinot Noir is natively grown, was overtaken by the Romans, then by the Catholic Church, then later by the French Proletariat. At any given time in the last 2000 years, Pinot Noir has been managed and contested over by dozens of warring groups, putting these grapes in a state of "Joint Custody" throughout the ages.
