Suveg Cellars is having a surprise release this weekend! Swing by to try our first vintage of Tempranillo, bottled under the name "Institutionalized" on Saturday, October 14th!
Tempranillo is a Spanish grape commonly bottled under the name Rioja, and sports notes of dried fig, cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco, and earthiness. Our first vintage of Tempranillo was sourced from the Geneseo District of Paso Robles. Prior to barreling down, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon was blended into the Tempranillo give the wine additional structure and character. The wine was aged in small 114 liter French barrels for 26 months, softening the tannic structure of the wine to create soft and alluring offering. Elegant yet firm, the wine delivers notes of dried cherry, tobacco, and licorice flavors accented by vanilla and toast. A fully extracted wine with a big presence, this Tempranillo dominant blend should peak in around 3-5 years.
If you're curious about the name "Institutionalized," ask Shawn or Devin at the Tasting Room!
