Suveg Cellars Takes Home 8 Medals at 2020 San Francisco International Wine Competition
Winemaker Craig Suveg has done it again, taking home 8 medals at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. This victory takes the total combined national and international medal count for Suveg Cellars to 63.
Not only did Suveg Cellars take home 8 medals but we added two double gold medals to our accolades, including the highest scores on any wine Suveg Cellars has ever produced.
Our 2017 “Strait Jacket,” the Super Tuscan blend of 80% Sangiovese, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc, is our second red wine since the winery’s inception to take home a double gold medal. More importantly, the 2017 “Strait Jacket” received the highest score of any wine Suveg Cellars has ever produced - 95 points.
Our second double medal was awarded to the 2018 Viognier “Pardon My French.” This is our second vintage of Viognier to win a double gold medal, and the third to receive at least a gold medal in competition. 2018 “Pardon My French” also received the highest score Suveg Cellars has ever been awarded for a white wine - 94 points.
Though the Viognier and Super Tuscan took home the top honors, Suveg Cellars received an additional six medals! Our 2017 Syrah “Table Dancer” took home a gold medal with a score of 92 points, and our 2017 Petite Sirah “Sibling Rivalry” took home a silver medal.
Rounding off the medals count, we received 4 bronze medals: 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon “High Maintenance”, 2016 Nero d’Avola “Hear No Evil”, 2017 Primitivo “Pole Position”, and 2017 Sangiovese “Problem Child.”
